crashtech, I mostly agree with your sentiment but things are hardly so black and white. For how long can the price America paid generations ago be held over the heads of present day Japan and Korea? Certainly a few hundred thousand American dead in the 1940's is not justification for an indefinite occupation. We are not in Japan today, in 2010, simply because WWII casualties justify it. We are there and need to be there for strategic reasons, to stabilize the region, ensure shipping lanes are kept open, and to keep China's expansionist ambitions in check.
In Korea, it can be argued that the mission UN forces fought and died for was not accomplished, and that we therefore have a right to be there.
