After a generation of people whose goal was making money, maybe there will be a generation dedicated to acquiring knowledge and developing the arts. I could see the Japanese as forerunners of such a development. Maybe all we need is better robots to produce the things you need, leaving to us people the time to dedicate ourselves to the serious things in life.

The central challenge for China is to get rich before it gets old:



The situation of a top heavy elderly population in China will be more acute that it is in Japan today.
Possibly a result of the one-child policy.

Japan and Germany managed to do become rich before becoming old and it's far from a panacea.

It's not clear yet if China will succeed.
