Thank you for all for your kind concerns; I and my family are all fine. We have dealt with periodic power outages, washed out roads, as well as flooding, but we live outside of the central plain, Chao Phraya River region that has been most severely effected.
We have a rainy season every year and flooding is common, but this year has been particularly bad. This is due to higher rainfall than normal coupled with the results of human activity: roads that block drainage, industrial developments displacing marshland that absorb the waters, and so on. We are pulling together as a people, and we are doing far better than would have done with such as situation a few years ago even though very sadly around 300 of my countrymen and women have perished. We are all behind Her Excellency Yingluck Shinawatra and the work of her government to deal with the crisis. I have volunteered to assist and have done what I could in our provincial district to deliver what supplies I have been able to procure for those in need. I am glad that my two little girls enjoy the rides or nap away the time in the back of the Fortuner without much fussing about.
If nothing else, the many hours during the rains has provided us with the time to be with my husband and children. After addressing water drainage and power issues as well as caring for my family, there has been something about the coming and going of rain, lightening, and thunder while I have rested in meditation late at night when all are finally asleep that has been very special to me...
I really hope that the worst of all this is over.
