May his soul rest in peace . The article states that he paid a heavy price for reporting from a dangerous part of the world.

Indeed. A sad loss. The calm, lucid, cheerful tone in his columns was in complete contrast to the terrifyingly dangerous adventures he must have had researching them.

A tragic loss of an outstanding reporter. He will be missed. Condolences to family and colleagues.
Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

May he rest in peace.
Our aim is victory — victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

This is a huge loss. He took huge risks to bring the unvarnished truth to the public and paid with his life. He is a tribute to his profession and the human race.
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
