Let's face, guys: Goldman could be the worst sort of rabble-rouser --- had he been right about Obama, or even called the election, we'd all probably still be reading his stuff. What's one more rabble rouser on the Internets?

That said, meeting everyone here, there, and some who have dropped out (Collingwood, Samwise, etc.) -- has been invaluable to me. Spengler's forum about 2-3 years ago was like Woodstock for smart people.

I always wondered if the Spengler persona was designed to encourage anti-semitism, with the help of useful idiots like Green Charlestoneta. It seemed like that. Now I fall in the camp of it being unintentional. He's probably trying too hard to overcome his anti-semitic past that he went too far the other way.

It is my understanding that Herzl didn't give a shit about Palestine at all. That the only reason he threw his own weight behind Israel was because he saw that it could attract and unify Jews, and that people were already moving there. He chose to support Israel mainly because he saw it as being workable.

As I have said many times before, I wish America had just opened its doors for Jews fleeing the holocaust.

I have actually heard from many Israelis and Jews who visited Israel that they are disgusted by the racism in Israel. That it's on a level that we generally do not see here in America.
