The controversial US Pastor Terry Jones has been banned from coming to the UK and speaking at a rally in Bletchley.

The Home Office have refused his entry to the country saying his presence is "not conducive to the public good".

Last year, he threatened to burn copies of the Koran to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm reminded of the refusal of a local university to allow white supremacist Jared Taylor to speak. It created quite a controversy at the time (5+ years ago now), but it's not as though a wise or original point of view was silenced. Ironically the same school caused Ann Coulter to cancel an appearance (though apparently it was all staged). Similar case, a useless talking head was denied a chance to play their one note.

The pastor from Gainesville is in the same class as (though probably less accomplished than) Taylor and Coulter.

Islam as a system of memes is worthy of serious concern for Islamophobes like me. That most Muslims do not engage too much in it is because they are too busy surviving and raising their kids, because they are basically like everybody else. Moderate Muslims are not moderate because of any right form of Islam, but because they are human.

The Master of Pricklyness Lord Ibrahim fails to acknowledge this distinction: people who on a normal human level respect every other human being, but at the same time have legitimate concerns and sometimes fears for some of the ideologies or aspects thereof that others engage in as groups, often fanatically. Of course not every fanatic becomes a violent bomb shell, in fact most fanatics just have strong habits following precise schemes that do the magic for them, ie producing the desired religious-social experience via repetition.
