The Army general leading the U.S. forces enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya said on Monday it would not be ideal for Muammar Gaddafi to remain in power but attacking the Libyan leader was not part of his mission.

Not killing him at this point would be a mistake. He is too connected and a folk hero to illitterate African youth. He has a breeding ground for terrorism and will be a veritable Caliph if he bitches NATO. Must go for the kill. It is the strategically correct course of action.

I saw one talking head say words to the effect that the allies were " already considering exit strategies" and I just laughed at the accuracy of the statement. Clearly , there was no consideration of such a thing beforehand. I wish Americans would get past Underpants Gnome- style use of force calculus.
