The new Egyptian Foreign Minister has called the Gaza blockade a violation of int'l law, Angry Arab reports, and David Kenner translates (h/t Ali Gharib). The Foreign Minister is Nabil Elaraby, who was a judge in the historic Int'l Court of Justice Ruling against the separation wall, in 2005, and whose concurrent opinion went further than the other judges, and held that the occupation was illegal.

Meantime, Dennis Loh reports that a march from Egypt to Gaza to bring cement into the blockaded strip today succeeded in getting in the first bag of cement

Arab League wants Gaza no-fly zone

The Arab League says it will ask the United Nations to impose a no-fly-zone over the Gaza Strip to stop Israeli warplanes carrying out air strikes inside the Palestinian territory.

Since mid-March, more than 30 Gazans have been killed in Israeli air strikes, including several civilians and children.

Now, the Arab League says it will ask the UN Security Council for a no-fly zone to stop Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Condemning what it called Israel's "brutal" aggression in Gaza, a gathering of the Arab League's permanent delegates called on the UN to convene its Security Council.

The meeting would "consider the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip on an urgent basis to stop its siege and impose a no-fly rule on the Israeli military to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip," the Arab League said in a statement.
