ive been saying that for ages.
alas, their are serious differences which arent going anywhere in the world views and they show up when solutions are discussed.
for me, the last thing the "corrupt" government needs to have is more laws/power/taxes to create social change, for GC (as an example) every damn issue comes down to more laws and rules that "fix" things centrally and make the outcomes "fairer".. aka que up in the correct government department and prove you are desperate enough to need your own money... can spin this shit as much as(you like, reality has shown the outcome and thats centralised authoritarian rules on every aspect of life...
i realise you have more middle ground than the cliches but the overall reality of the last 20 years for me is that progressives are just like conservatives, every damn thing is authoritarian and centralised for the "greater good" and any difference in perception or priority is called lies and treated with every bit the same righteous fury as a opus dei type catholic.
again, i know you personally do get off your arse and "do" rather than "legislate" so dont take the above personally, its just the overall flavour and outcomes im talking about.
the small bit of optimist in me hopes that these splits can be worked through but looking at national politics in my own cuntry, that optimist is getting a flogging.
