Yes, Spengler, there's a Sanity Clause

Compare what Spengler wrote in to what he wrote .
So I guess Mitt Romney and his fellow Mormons aren't too crazy to be allowed near the White House after all.
It appears that Spengler (former Lyndon Larouche henchman David Goldman for new forum participants) either has amnesia, or is hoping that his readers do.
I had a feeling that this was going to happen. I just didn't figure that it would be so soon.

So you're saying Mr. Goldman is a mainstream Republican?

Yeah, I guess he's a mainstream Republican (rather than a master strategist/scholar/prophet/theologian/world historical genius) and yeah, that's hilarious.

Hey, Ibrahim figured out a way to invoke Adolf Hitler! What a surprise!
Az, the real problem with this is Spengler is getting optimistic about the election. That means it's either going to a GOP blowout (a pessimist is becoming an optimist) or we're dead in the water (see Iran predictions).

Mainstream Republicans would be all about Barack Obama if he switched parties. That's all they care about. They don't actually give a shit about people who authentically believe what they believe. You can act one way and believe one thing for most of your life, and then if it benefits your political career, you can suddenly switch parties, become a Republican, mouth some meaningless platitudes about Abortion and you're in!
Rick Perry used to be a Democrat. Mitt Romney was a Republican who invented the prototype of Obamacare.
They don't care, all they care about, is what team you are on. And that's what Spengler is doing. It's all about the team, he doesn't give a shit about any of the other issues he claimed to care about before.

Mike Bloomberg isn't today a Democrat. So the 'used to be a Republican' bit is meaningless. And none of those people you mentioned are being considered serious candidates for President.
But I agree, the moronic partisanship cuts both ways. All you partisans are exactly the same.
I really wish that the Republican party would nominate a real Conservative. Y'all ain't gonna nominate Ron Paul, you're going to nominate Mitt Romney.
I think it's funny, you continually say that the Republican party has too many moderates, and yet you want a permanent Republican majority. So what you're saying is you want all the moderates and leftists to become Republicans.

I don't know if David is getting sanguine about the elections, or possibly very concerned. Witness the 20-knot shitstorm of comments on his PJM blog. He saw Romney, he saw something to like in him, but a lot of the faithful are not buying it.......
Wouldn't get excited about anything at this point......

David never said you will have either purity or principle in politics, did he?......'>..........
He's not inconsistent, he has never given truth or reason a very high standing when it comes to what people do to come to terms with each other and the universe.......

In Spengler's defense, Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton are not terribly dissimilar as candidates. Both centrists.
