I've often argued, more precisely speculated, that if the US economy had been doing very well and that there had not been a Vietnam War, then former POTUS Nixon would not have been threatened with impeachment.

This got me thinking, too. I don't think that if Obama raises the debt ceiling he'll be impeached, but if the word impeach keeps coming up and reaches a small chant, is there a chance Obama might get impeached like Clinton in his second term?
I still feel that anyone that wants to be president right now probably should put on riot gear everywhere they go. This is not a fun time for the office. My guess is that the 2013-2016 season is going to be ugly. The only thing I can guess a returning or new president to hope for is the storm to be over before 2016 so they can claim themselves effective because things got better on their watch.

If the debt veiling itself is unconstitutional, the point seems moot.

argumentum ad ignorantiam defined:
""Err, there is no evidence that the Watergate break in was ordered by Nixon."
Argument from ignorance, also known as argumentum ad ignorantiam or "appeal to ignorance", is a fallacy in informal logic. It asserts that a proposition is true because it has not been proven false (or vice versa). This represents a type of false dichotomy in that it excludes a third option, which is that there is insufficient investigation and therefore insufficient information to satisfactorily prove the proposition to be either true or false. Nor does it allow the admission that the choices may in fact not be two (true or false), but may be as many as four, (1) true, (2) false, (3) unknown between true or false, and (4) being unknowable (among the first three).[1] In debates, appeals to ignorance are sometimes used to shift the burden of proof.
Argument from ignorance may be used as a rationalization by a person who realizes that he has no reason for holding the belief that he does.
there is also no proof der fuehrer ordered the holocaust
or Georgia's Josef Besarionis dze Jughashvili ordered the kulak extinction
or Mighty Mao ordered 20,000,000 deaths.
But objective observers recall Tricky Dick's diktat:
"When the President does it, that means it is not illegal."
Richard M. Nixon
May 20, 1977.

Argument from truth:
There is no evidence that R Nixon ordered the Watergate break in. Just telling the truth.

cognitive disonance is uncomfortable
because it forces a choice......
accept and integrate data....
or totally suppress it.

That's nice. In the meantime, there is no evidence that R Nixon ordered the break in. Just telling the truth. The truth will set you free.

john ehrlichman ran the plumbers

so nixon was to watergate
what hitler was to auschwitz
tricky dick didnt have the balls to face the music of a trial
and slunk away in total disgrace flashing phony smiles and v signs....
ever wonder why?

The truth is that there is no evidence that Nixon ordered the break in. I am telling the truth, I am on the side of the truth, and it appears that you cannot handle the truth.

there is evidence he tried like hell to raise money to pay off the plumbers.
there is evidence john ehrlichman was his right hand man.
there is evidence ehrlichman ran the plumbers
there is evidence Nixon tried to run an imperial presidency
and you just seek refuge in more argumentum ad ignorantiam
sorry to see an otherwise intelligent fellow succumb to the demands of party lines.

done by his crew on his watch for his benefit....
and who he paid off with illicit money he raised...
enough for most
never for a few
you are certainly entitled to avoid the obvious
the trial he couldnt handle would have been interesting
should have happened instead of blanket pardon by his handpicked successor
might even have sent him to soledad instead of the san clemente beach front mansion
btw
who bought that for him?
wasnt his best buddy bebe the mafia confidant rebozo was it?
or was it that pepsico guy ?
kendall?
the one who had Nixon nullify the election in chile///
yep long way to san clemente from the wife's cloth coat days eh?
the one who insisted Poland was not captive behind the iron curtain
