Viewers of The Colbert Report may be familiar with the comedian's efforts to form his own PAC, part comedy stunt, part educational, and definitely a good thing for his ratings. Mr. P liked to use delays in the process as an indicator that government regulations were "strict" and that therefore poor regulations allowing corporations and the super-wealthy to essentially buy elections (something Cassowary on the old forum was in full support of) could not possibly be a problem.

Yes. Awesome!
You do of course realize that the entire point of this was to test the degree to which corporate entities can buy elections and that by getting this PAC Colbert has kicked the door open for a wider interpretation of Citizens United right?
This isn't some victory for the little guy. It's certainly cool and good activist journalism, but it's a big win for corporate purchasing of elections.
