IMO , If RP gets nominated , we will get more independent votes than Obama - it will be quiet a contest.

Obama got punked out by the GOP over nothing with the timing of this speech business. It's nothing that will stick, but damn. Unless he is thinking it will be something else he can capitalize off of as historic obstructionism ( no evidence that tactic has worked to date, BTW), he's just getting jerked around like a rag. It makes me feel sorry for him.

Obama will win because the GOP will nominate someone too extreme for Centrists. It's really that simple. People like Mr. Perfect don't recognize the demographic reality, they really have bought into their own hype.

Ron Paul can't win, Michelle Bachmann can't win, Rick Perry can't win. People seem to forget that George W. Bush DIDN'T win the 2000 election. At best he tied.

Mitt Gecko is going to have a bitch of a time in the general if he takes the GOP nomination. When people start to understand what a leveraged buy-out is, they are going to look hard at him. 'I'll be a CEO President, I laid people off for a living.', is going to be a tough sell. His private industry experience was in DESTROYING jobs.

I know the recent bus tour looks like the start of a campaign.....

Still looks like his election to lose, it will be interesting to see if he campaigns to win. He might have more power after one term as an ex-president than as a second term president.

It will be interesting to see if he can portray himself as an "outsider," buffeted but not broken by the political machine, the lone representative of the little guy.... who really cares......

If He runs against DC.... and politics as usual...... I think a lot of people would buy into that sales pitch.

Any bets on his running mate? Hillary? Palin?

Now we have numbers that show Palin, Cain, Paul, Romney, Perry, and Christie are within 4-5 points all the way up to beating Obama outright, before we even get to the electoral college.

I will say that Paul and Cain are my first choice, Christie is 2, Romney, Perry, Palin are 3rd.
