I have another big, fat, stinking single horned ungulate to add to the list:

America should continue to recognize China's superior, low cost labor force and low regulation climate is a boon for the American economy and consumers, and should thus continue to accept, if not embrace, the current phenomenon of offshoring, outsourcing, tech transfer and investment into that country. And if we don't, or dare to question it, watch out, we could have World War 3!!!! Now we don't want that, do we?

The nature of the trade relationship is debatable, but its all the war talk that annoys me. Either a) China is going to start invading places for one of many stupid reasons, or b) America could take out China without breaking a sweat so we don't need to worry about a. Both dumb, both highly speculative, both not helpful in a realistic discussion of US/China relations moving forward.

Its very difficult to find Western or Chinese writing about the relationship that doesn't mingle the two issues. Amusingly, or perhaps inevitably, they both stress the expansionist threat of the other.
