Orbital satellites with ballistic missiles. I do not believe that this tech does not already exist.

The Chinese satellite thing was to show their theoretical capability to knock out GPS rather than armed satellites. This would cause other military problems, but isn't aimed at disabling weapons platforms specifically.

Though I do agree with the general argument that we will probably see armed satellites at some point. Could be armed with conventional missiles or some new futuristic beam weapon/EMP/death ray.

I just do not believe that we don't have weaponized satellites ready to be launched. Maybe they aren't already in place, but I bet there is a warehouse or a dozen filled with them.

Maybe time for a branch-off thread called "Space Power"....

That way we can talk about why the Space-Based Radar failed to gain traction (ST clearly knows why), the merits or lunacy of John Klein's proposal for space policy, etc.
